Critique of Sara’s “Incident Report”

Incident Report consists of eye witnesses reports following a high school student’s fatal injury during a football game.  There are several voices present in the piece, evident in the change of vocabulary and sentence structure.  Though at least five characters are indicated by names or pronouns, the language only suggests three.  Withholding the fact that one of the students was dead until the last paragraph adds an element of surprise to the story, but considering the circumstances, one would expect the other students to express some shock or empathy.  They seem more concerned with arguing about what happened.  Still, this is a creative approach to suspense writing.

It would be interesting to include other documents such as an autopsy report, or even to evaluate the conflict between Martin and Phil.
